Farmmash Develops an Ophthalmic Dropper with Forced Drop Separation
Farmmash has developed the FK2.2 SP1 ophthalmic dropper with Forced Drop Separation technology. The design aims to make the formation and detachment of each drop more controlled when dispensing an ophthalmic product.
In eye drop packaging, the bottle and dropper work together as a delivery system. The way a drop forms at the tip can affect dispensing consistency and the user’s experience. This is why dropper selection should be considered alongside the formulation, bottle and closure during packaging development.
How Forced Drop Separation Works
Forced Drop Separation is designed to help the formed drop detach from the dropper tip in a more predictable way. Farmmash is developing the FK2.2 SP1 to support more controlled drop formation, improve dosing reproducibility and reduce the risk of irregular drop detachment.
These are design objectives, not a fixed drop volume for every formulation. Liquid properties such as viscosity and surface tension can influence dispensing. The finished packaging system should therefore be evaluated with the product it will contain and under its intended conditions of use.
Evaluating the Complete Ophthalmic Packaging System
Selecting an ophthalmic dropper involves more than assessing the tip alone. Manufacturers should examine how the dropper performs with the chosen bottle, closure and formulation. Relevant checks may include drop formation, dispensing consistency, component fit, sealing and ease of use.
Farmmash offers a range of pharmaceutical dropper bottle systems, including the FK2-5 eye dropper bottle and the FK2-10 eye dropper bottle. These links show related bottle formats; the suitability of any specific bottle for FK2.2 SP1 must be confirmed through compatibility testing.
Discuss an Ophthalmic Packaging Project
Farmmash is working with pharmaceutical partners to evaluate the FK2.2 SP1 for ophthalmic applications. If you are developing a new eye drop product or reviewing an existing dispensing system, our team can discuss your requirements and the testing needed for your selected components.
