Child-Resistant Closures for Chemical Packaging

Farmmash manufactures closure systems designed to make unintended opening by children more difficult.

For chemical and household-product packaging, the current range includes K28 CRC for compatible Ø28 mm PET bottle configurations.

The closure uses a press-and-turn opening principle.

K28 CRC

K28 CRC is a screw closure that requires simultaneous downward pressure and rotation during opening.

This operating principle is intended to make normal unscrewing more difficult for young children while allowing appropriate adult users to open the package.

Combination with P28 Pouring Insert

K28 CRC can be combined with the Farmmash P28 pouring insert in compatible packaging systems.

The insert is installed in the bottle neck and helps direct liquid flow during pouring.

The complete bottle, insert and closure configuration should be evaluated together.

Applications

K28 CRC can be considered for compatible household and chemical liquid products where restricted access to the contents is required.

Final suitability depends on the formulation, bottle geometry and packaging requirements.

Chemical compatibility must be evaluated with the actual product.

Child-Resistant Packaging Validation

A child-resistant closure alone does not automatically make a complete package child-resistant.

Where a child-resistant packaging claim is required, the final bottle-and-closure system should be validated according to the applicable requirements and test method, such as ISO 8317 for reclosable packages.

Farmmash can provide technical information and samples of K28 CRC.

Testing with the actual bottle, formulation and capping equipment is recommended before serial production.
