BFS Bottle Closures

BFS bottle closures by Farmmash are designed for compatible pharmaceutical bottles manufactured using Blow-Fill-Seal technology.

Each closure combines a screw-cap design with an integrated puncture pin. During first use, the closure is turned onto the welded bottle top. The pin then creates a controlled opening in the bottle.

This configuration enables the product to be dispensed from the BFS bottle after opening.

Closures for Blow-Fill-Seal Bottles

Blow-Fill-Seal technology combines container forming, filling and sealing within an integrated manufacturing process.

The bottle leaves the BFS process with a sealed upper section. Therefore, the dispensing closure must match the geometry of the specific bottle design.

Farmmash offers two closure configurations for different BFS equipment systems.

BFS Closure 3.1 A(A)

The 3.1 A(A) closure is designed for compatible BFS bottles produced on Rommelag Bottlepack equipment.

It is a screw closure with an integrated puncture pin.

When the closure is turned onto the welded bottle top, the pin creates the opening required for controlled dispensing.

BFS Closure 3.1 A(B)

The 3.1 A(B) closure is designed for compatible Blow-Fill-Seal bottles produced on Brevetti Angela equipment.

It uses the same functional principle: a screw closure with an internal puncture pin.

However, the closure geometry is matched to the corresponding BFS bottle configuration.

Integrated Puncture Pin

The puncture pin is part of the closure itself.

Therefore, the user does not need a separate opening tool. Turning the closure creates the required opening in the sealed bottle top.

After opening, the product can be dispensed according to the bottle and closure configuration.

Bottle-to-Closure Compatibility

BFS closures are highly dependent on the geometry of the bottle top.

The welded section, thread or retaining geometry and puncture area must correspond to the selected closure.

For this reason, the equipment platform alone should not be considered sufficient confirmation of compatibility.

Farmmash recommends testing the actual BFS bottle with the selected closure.

Pharmaceutical Packaging Applications

BFS packaging is widely used for liquid pharmaceutical products where an integrated container forming, filling and sealing process is required.

The Farmmash closures provide an additional opening and dispensing function for compatible BFS bottle systems.

Final suitability depends on the bottle design, formulation and intended application.

Samples and Technical Support

Farmmash can provide technical information and samples of BFS closures 3.1 A(A) and 3.1 A(B).

Customers can submit their BFS bottle samples or technical drawings for compatibility evaluation before serial production.
